Course Overview:

Chinese martial arts (wushu) is a captivating and ancient discipline that has been practised for centuries. This dynamic and diverse art form not only embodies physical prowess but also emphasises discipline, focus, and self-expression.

Course Content:

This Wushu course introduces Chinese martial arts, an ancient discipline focusing on physical prowess, discipline, focus, and self-expression. The course begins with teaching basic movements such as stances, kicks, punches, and blocks before progressing to advanced techniques including weapons skills. Students will learn choreographed sequences or 'forms' which promote balance and concentration. There is a strong emphasis on mental discipline and character building with values such as respect and self-control being taught. The course benefits primary school children by promoting physical fitness, discipline, self-confidence and cultural awareness. Our teaching method blends traditional forms with contemporary techniques to instil fundamental principles that apply beyond the training mat. Our students consistently win awards in competitions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Progressive Training: Instructors typically begin by teaching new students the basic stances, kicks, punches, and blocks. These foundational movements lay the groundwork for more advanced techniques as students progress to different weapons skills.
  • Forms and Sequences: As students progress, they learn various choreographed sequences, or "forms," which combine the fundamental movements in a fluid and artistic manner. These forms promote balance, coordination, and concentration.
  • Mental Discipline: Wushu places a strong emphasis on mental discipline. Children are taught to focus on their breath and maintain concentration, which can have a positive impact on their ability to concentrate in school.
  • Character Building: Wushu teaches values like respect, humility, perseverance, and self-control. These lessons are woven into the fabric of each class, helping children become better individuals both inside and outside the training hall.
  • Benefits of Learning Wushu for Primary School Kids:
  • Physical Fitness: Wushu is an excellent way for kids to stay physically active, promoting strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health.
  • Discipline and Focus: Wushu encourages students to pay attention to detail, follow instructions, and maintain a high level of discipline.
  • Self-Confidence: As children master new techniques and demonstrate their skills in front of others, their self-confidence soars.
  • Cultural Awareness: Learning Wushu exposes children to a rich and diverse cultural tradition, fostering an appreciation for Chinese heritage and history.
